WELCOME to Kindergarten! I am very excited to be working with you and your child!! I have an exciting year planned that will be filled with many wonderful experiences and opportunities for learning and growing. Our days will be filled with stories, letters, phonics, writing, numbers and many other activities! I hope that your family has enjoyed the summer and that you are ready to embark on an important milestone in your child's life. What a pleasure it will be to have your child in my classroom!!
Thursday Folder
A folder will be sent home every Thursday and needs to be returned the following Wednesday. It will contain any information or homework that you need to know about as well as your child's completed work. Your child’s homework for the following week will be sent home in these folders each week. We will also be using an online program called Seesaw. I will be setting it up so that we can communicate daily and I can keep you updated on your child’s behavior and educational progress. I will contact you with additional information as soon as I have it all set up. Please, be patient with us as we are all trying to adjust so that your child will have the best education possible. Your involvement is essential to the success of your child. There will also be a zipper pouch for lunch money, notes from home, etc. No more lost notes, newsletters or calendars!!
Rules and Discipline
We will spend time learning classroom procedures and practicing them. To establish good order and help the children learn self-control, I will guide them to respect themselves and others through specific directions, positive reinforcement and responsible actions.
I will be using the stop light method for discipline. The stoplight is a series of green, yellow and red cards that are turned when rules are broken.
*Green- excellent behavior
*Yellow- indicates that 1 rule has been broken
*Red- means that 2 rules have been broken
3 or more rules will result in being sent to the office and parents will be contacted. All children remaining on green lights at the end of the day will receive a kiss (Hersheys). If a student has received all green lights for they week, they will get a prize from the treasure box on Fridays. It will really help me out if each parent would send a bag of Hershey kisses the first week of school. Students with no more than 1 yellow and no red lights during the week will receive a special treat on Fridays.
Rules
* We will be truthful and honest
* We will listen courteously when others are talking
* We will respect teachers and fellow classmates
* We will cooperate with others
* We will always do our best
* I will stay in my seat
* I will keep my hands and feet to myself and my own property
Conferences
I will meet with you periodically to discuss your child's progress. If you have any questions or concerns, please set up a conference time with me by calling the school at 426-4700. My conference hours are 12:20-1:15 daily. During this uncertain time, we may be doing conferences by phone. You may also contact me on Seesaw or email me at amysnell@krebs.k12.ok.us.
I know we are all a little anxious about what our school year may look like but know that no matter what, your child will be safe and loved in my classroom. Thank you for sharing your babies with me!
