Hand, Foot, and Mouth Sickness

Posted Date: 09/08/25 (08:36 AM)

There has been many students in the last few days that have contracted Hand, Foot, and Mouth. When blisters and rashes are noticed by the teacher the students are sent to the office to be doubled checked and if it is confirmed, students will be sent home. I have included the guidelines that need to followed for students to return to school.

Hand, foot, and mouth disease (HFMD) is typically not contagious once the following conditions are met:
1. Resolution of Symptoms:

  • The blisters on the hands, feet, and mouth have dried up and healed.
  • Fever and other symptoms have subsided.
2. Duration of Illness:

  • Most people with HFMD are no longer contagious after 7-10 days.
3. Absence of Virus in Body Fluids:

  • The virus may still be present in the stool for several weeks after symptoms resolve. However, it is generally not considered contagious through stool after this period.
4. Good Hygiene Practices:

    • Practicing good hygiene, such as frequent handwashing and avoiding contact with infected surfaces, can help prevent the spread of the virus even after symptoms have subsided.
